Hey Johnny -- Not very well. We both finished with only two points in the open. By my calculations that translates into a net loss of 25 rating points for each of us. The tournament was won by Davis M. Whaley (2057 uscf rating). the upside to our poor showing is that everyone figures that it will be easy pickings at the Tax Evasion Tournament next month if Steve and I were the best E-town could send to Winchester.
Being gluttons for punishment we stayed for the Speed Tournament. Steve finished with 4 out of 8 and I scored 5 out of 8.
Steve got a Silver metal for his Category in the Speed Tournament and I received Gold metals in both events in the Senior devision. (@ 60 years old I was the only old guy there).
Chris Holbrook , who played in our Saturday Tournament last year had a great tournament coming in third overall and humiliated both Steve and I in the process.
Randas Burns, Bobby Amback, Ricky Durbin, Chris Holbrook, and Del Hall all said they would see us April 14th. I saw parents taking our flier and expect some of the youngsters to show up also. Oops, almost forgot Steve Dillard who will be on Spring Break and said he would make it too.
Several guys asked about the where abouts of "Mr. Owens" so I told them you would be giving away points next week!

Jerry summed it all up. It was good time though. I especially enjoyed the quick chess, even though I did pretty poorly. I saw some obscure and interesting openings during the quick chess, I also learned an end game checkmate move from Ambrack. You may know it, but I hadn’t seen it before.
