Game 30 or Game 25? We advertised Game 30 but it was changed on site to Game 25. The reason we went to a firm start time of 7pm was to allow enough time for Game 30. The reason we were running late was the time spent "discussing the Club Championship again! This shouldn't be a normal occurrance. So why not Game/30 ?

The RULES STATE: The tournament director has the right to shorten the basic time control, in minutes, by the time delay used, in seconds. Thus, Clocks for G/30 with a 5-second time delay (t/d5) may be set at 25 minutes instead of 30! Jerry, you can run next months tounament and I sit back and complain!

Johnny,
I wasn't complaining. I know the rule and the TD's discretion. I just wanted clarification as I (perhaps erroneously) thought we had set registration @6:30 - 6:45 with games starting at 7 PM sharp: in order to get on 3 games @ G/30 with the delay. Remember how folks were just drifting in without regard to the start time.
I know your role as TD is an arduous job. I for one appreciate the job you have been doing.

Really bizarre how the Tax Evasion posted. I know you guys are working to fix... just thought it weird.

Stan & all other Tax Evasion participants,
When the Tournament was completed we were attempting to submit it for posting to USCF on site in order for everyone to see the results that night when they got home. When the initial report was sent in for corrections it was returned "with no corrections needed". In our haste to get it submitted we took the computers word and submitted without double checking. Unfortunately because the TD tried to appease everyone and played a game as the "house" against the late arriving Wu the computer deleted Vaughn and inserted Owens. (remember that computers are not infallible -- thats why I don't trust Fritz). Due to USCF being closed for the weekend we had to wait until Monday to call and correct the situation. Vaughn was notified Sunday and understood. If you check out the latest posting you will still find errors. USCF is aware of the problem and has attached a bold note in red alerting folks to the situation. Unfortunately things will not be straightened out until the next re-rating.
"To err is human (and computer) to forgive is divine". The Club sincerely hopes everyone will forgive.
I personally would like to commend Johnny for taking on the TD duties. He dealt with late arrivals, "lost in the mail" registrations, withdrawals (with no notice given), relatives who didn't want to be paired against one another, last minute arrivals, going to guide in lost players, having to run tie breaks for trophies, and the "Mancuso" factor. He also gave up his chance to be in the tournament and everyone who knows him knows how much he wanted to play. ;D

I saw the picture of Vaughn in the paper and noticed he was not on the crosstables! This explains it. Thanks for the info Jerry.
But overall I must say that this tournament was a great success! A big thanks for a job well done to Johnny as TD and for dealing with those unpredictable things Jerry mentioned; a big thanks to Jerry for all the preparation he did and arranging for Master Parham's appearance; and to the rest of those who helped in planning and preparation for this event. I also know that Steve, Brian, and Stan played a major role in this event. Hopefully I'm not leaving out any names, but if so I apologize.

When was it in the paper? If it was yesterday, then I missed it. If it was today, I will go and pick one up. I think it was an excellent tournament and repeat the thanks to Johnny and Jerry for carrying much of the load for the club. I think it would be nice to announce who won each class. I know Mark Daniel Wagner won the tournament, Andre M Botley won the under 1400 section, and it looks like Randus Burns won the B class, but that is about all I know. When someone gets time, tell me all the other classifications and I will repost it on the KCF website. www.uschess.org/msa/XtblMain.php?200704146281.0-12745941Also, is there a way we can unclutter the Elizabethtown tournament page before we announce the next tournament? It would be nice if the new tournament was at the top of the page.

Didn't mean to seem critical in last post. Just thought USCF'S recap of tournament was creative!
I saw why J.O. as TD couldn't commit to a 4 rounder Saturday. Lots to say grace over, even when well organized as our tourney was. Also, 30% increase means some will pencil thier calendars for next year.
Two more events this week: tonite, and Thursday at Bearno's in Bardstown. I'm gonna try and make both when I finish licking my wounds...

Brian has pictures of all trophy winners. I'm sure the paper would print it if sent in. I don't have it.
