Just finished reading The Chess Players by Francis Parkinson Keyes. I found it at the E-town Flea Market this summer but didn't get to it until about two weeks ago. It is a biography of Paul Morphy with a lot of actual documents pertaining to his life included. The author does admit to using "writers license" in filling in the three year gap that Morphy spent in France during the American Civil War. This is a book which your wife might enjoy more than you as it weaves a tail of undying love around Morphy's chess conquest. as it was a "book of the month" there are probably more out there in the second hand book stores. Paul Hoffman referenced it in this book The Kings Gambit. If you are a Chess history buff this would be a must read, if not I'd rate it a 7 on a scale of 1-10. There are only two complete game scores in the book.
