New member, John Craycroft, asked me if we did anything other that just play individual games at our meetings.
If anyone has an idea to "spice up" our meetings I am more than willing to prepare "classes", analyze games, hold a simul, explore "blindfold chess" or the like. We have had Parham visit in the past; but turn out was dismal. Getting a GM requires money.
Any Ideas?? Both Johnny and I have demo boards.

I think analyzing games or game positions as a group would be both fun and educational. I'm not sure how this would work out since some members may rather play games and doing both is somewhat conflicting in our confined space. Perhaps restricting "lesson" time from a half hour to an hour or certain nights is an idea? Periodic simuls (for example 1st Tuesday of the month) might draw more interest.
Another idea is that some of our members can volunteer as teachers where members can choose which teacher they want to analyze a game with, if available.

I like the analysis idea. Submit games to go over, and not necessarily one's own.

I might stick my head in if you guys could have Burg give a lecture on the Sicilian Defense - Najdorf Variation.
Other than that, I hope all is well with everyone.

"Might" is not a commitment. But all else aside I didn't realize Burg had such a large fan base. I spoke with one of Burg's church leaders recently and it seems Burg has discovered girls. But make a firm commitment and I'll work my magic and arrange a lecture. Knowing Burg I hope you can afford the attendance fee!
Neat video of Bush officiating a football game. First he signals a fair catch, then a touchdown, and then does a little "end zone" dance.

How many people would be interested in a class on Tournament Directing? NCCC is in a desperate need (my opinion only) and our club could use a few more.
I envision classes covering the use of USCF soft ware, submitting tournaments, and additions to the USCF Rule Book.
