If you are setting out there wondering if you can find an opponent near your strength at the E-town Chess Club; consider the following. We currently have 14 players on the current USCF Top 200 Kentucky active players list: #12, #23, #43, #61, #67, #70, #92, #109, #119, #126, #142, #162, and #191. We also have 7 other members who did not make the list due to no recent rated play, recently returned to chess or a rating too low to qualify.
When you get tired of playing computers and anonymous on line opponents; drop by any Tuesday and face a live opponent across the board.

Jerry, I've been thinking about what you said at the last meeting. What do I need to do to become a TD director?

Kerry, The initial requirement to become a tournament director at the club level is to have read the USCF Rule Book. Then contact Darrell Wyatt at USCF. His e-mail is dwyatt@uschess.org or call him at (931) 787-1234 ext. 151. I have found that it is faster to call. Have your USCF membership ready and you may need our Club Affiliate Number which is: A6022816. Unless something has changed all you have to do is say you have read the Rule Book and he will certify you as a Club Level Tournament Director.Let me know if I can help out further. Jerry

Man, we have to start using our chess club website regularly. I know I'm guilty of failing to do so myself. A minor but treue excuse is I keep forgetting my password. Problem now solved, its highlighted and posted on my computer desk.
