We have players with 8 and 9 games to complete and one is yet to pay the $2.00 rating fee!
No unplayed game will be rated, but those with the most number of uncomplete games will get the Forfeit Loss on the crosstables and will not be allowed to compete in next year's Club Championship, if I'm the director!
As Jerry's email stated, next Tuesday the college will close early and the 10th of July is our monthly tourney!
I will submit the tournament for rating on July 15th. If I don't have the results by 12:00, I will determine the forfeits and submit the tourney for rating!

The qualifer is over, now does any of the qualifers have a special request as to when it should start or etc. I'd like to start it in August and end it in Sept. Steve's 2nd baby is due in Oct.! Time control will remain the same! (Game/45 w 05 delay)
Let me know your feelings!

Johnny, I'd like it to begin September 11th and run until 20 November. That would put us playing after school has started back up and between (after) Labor Day and (before) Thanksgiving. Jerry

I can live with any time that you guys agree upon. I would like to have it done by Oct 17th but I will manage if I can get people to play me Sat or Sun.

It appears that 17 October will be "Labor Day" for Steve. I have no objections to starting earlier, but would like to see it stretched out so that everyone can be accommodated. Bob Kilmer will be "out of the net" the entire month of September. I would also propose to include Micheal Leitao. It will all work out. ;D ;D ;D

Seeding Mike into the Finals MAKES A JOKE OF OUR QUALIFIER! I've won the last 2 Championships and I had to Qualify. Why not seed Burg?? I have nothing against Mike, but why not move Stan in? He was only one point back from Bob!! Why not add David to the Finals? He beat Mike in our last tourney! Where do we draw the line? 10 games is already too many and I see no good reason to play 2 more!

Johnny & everyone else, As most of you know I thought the qualifier was a joke and was against the format from the beginning. That said...how about if I give up my spot in the Championship Tournament? That way there are no more games to play. I am not trying to slight anyone, Burg only showed up to make a "burg" appearance and did not play in any tournaments since coming back. Stan had a chance, Michael didn't. I'm still puzzling over the Brock win, but all of us have been beaten by lower rated players at one time or another. Anyway,if I give up my place in the Championship would that be acceptable to everyone?

After giving this a couple days thought I’m still not sure which side of the fence I’m on…First off congrats to Michael on your strong showing at the Bluegrass State Games and welcome to the club! I know it must seem that you’re in an uncomfortable spot, being in the middle of this debate, and I hope you will take none of the club member’s opinions personally because I assure you this a procedural debate and not a personal one.
Statistically, the more games played to determine the club champion, the more decisive and meaningful the title is. A Swiss qualifier allows for the seldom “upset” to influence the finals, which I would add, can be a good thing and create a Cinderella story, but in terms of sending the best to the finals, the round robin format is the better of the two. Now the round robin system does require time to complete and as you know, not everyone was able to meet the schedule, including myself. I believe we decided that the previous years champion still needs to qualify and not be allowed to be seeded into the finials.
I don’t think we can just place Michael into the finals. This is our Club Championship and it for the membership at the start date. I can come up with way to many scenarios that could happen if players are voted in. I know Jerry has said he would give up his seat but I believe a vacant seat needs to be filled with the next point leader. The only way I see Michael playing in this year’s championship is if we postpone the finals and Michael plays the field.
I think that it is apparent that next years format needs looked into and I hope it gets cleared up in early ’08.

Brian, I'll concede. I hereby withdraw my request. I have received feedback from 4 members so far and it looks like there are some valid arguments against my suggestion. Maybe we can arrange a better formate next year.
If I win the Championship ;D I will play a ten game rated match against one challenger per quarter and relinquish the title if I lose.

I'm fine with the club championship format. The only problem is I don't like the 5 sec delay.

My question was answered to my satisfaction. So I'm a happy camper now. See you all on Tuesday.
